AGING SKIN-Why not to eat Sugar!

Aging Skin How to slow the aging process by omitting Sugar in your diet.

I am dedicating this post to anyone out there who struggles with sugar addiction. For years I have had the worst sweet tooth. Put a bakery cake in front of me and I start to drool. However, the more I read about sugar intake and all the harsh and damaging consequences, the more I cringe. Simply put, when you ingest sugar you cross link two collagen fibers which become incapable of easy repair. When glucose and fructose link the amino acids present in the collagen and elastin that support the dermis they produce advanced glycation-hence aging! For the majority out there, if you are indulging only during the holidays and birthdays a few times a year, then the effects of eating sugar might not be as bad as the next person who is clearly consuming sugar on a daily and weekly basis. I have been working for over seven years now with nutritionists who have all recommend the 90/10 rule. 90% good eating habits and 10% bad to keep you living a healthier lifestyle.

No one wants to age any faster than mother nature intended us to. I cannot stress anymore here that good skin care, in conjunction with a healthy diet, go hand in hand. These days my skin is top priority and anything I can do to slow the process is key.

Here are some other factors to consider before you eat another cookie! Sugar can cause inflammation throughout the body. Prolonged inflammation has damaging effects on the body and can lead to arthritis, heart disease, cancer and autoimmune diseases.

Sugar breaks down collagen which leads to skin aging and wrinkles too! Eating lots of sugar over an extended period leads to loss of collagen strength and flexibility, leading to wrinkly, saggy skin. Sadly, sugar can cause cancer. High sugar intake leads to elevated levels of insulin. Many studies show that people who eat large amounts of sugar have a much higher risk of developing many different types of cancer, including breast and colon cancer. Other harsh truths to be leery of is sugar can also lead to fatty liver and can also weaken the immune system as well. So, if you are a sugar addict like me, I implore you to kick the habit, or find ways to drastically reduce you sugar intake for a healthier you and to aide in the slowing of the aging process in the interim. I hope this helps you and if you enjoyed article don’t forget to Like and follow for upcoming articles. This is me once again Vanity 101 #shellybeautiful
